Our Honorable Pledge

Our Honorable Pledge

We as contributors, members, and leaders pledge to make participation in our community a pleasant experience for everyone; regardless of age, appearance, disability (or ability for that matter), education (or lack thereof), ethnicity [1], gender [2], nationality (or lack thereof), religion [3], or socio-economic status.

[1] We are the same race… Homo (our generic epithet) sapiens (our specific epithet) sapiens (our subspecific; aka “racial” epithet, “” used to denote pseudo-scientific status as we are not at this time in our evolution as diverse as we were when for example Homo sapiens neanderthalensis existed alongside Homo sapiens sapiens before procreation occurred between those two races of human(oid)s; thus use of a subspecific epithet in the current taxonomy of Homo sapiens is redundant and vestigial. In other words there is no trait, genetic or otherwise, unique to any one “race” of humans at this time in our evolution, and thus we are the same race… with “race” being irrelevant taxonomic usage… we are simply Homo sapiens, a SPECIES {not different races… although we are different ethnicities, yes! :^)} of human(oid)s.).

[2] The Latin word “gender” refers definitionally to the word “genital”, and thus for our purposes here, there are two genders, male and female, designated before an individual’s birth and as is evidenced at birth.

[3] Religion need mean nothing more than “repetitive, ritualized practice”; and an individuals life is usually comprised of many, of which any and all can be comprised of, as we all know, much more.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to a diverse, inclusive, healthy, and welcoming community.

Incident Enforcement

All incidence reports will be reviewed and investigated, and any resultant response will be deemed necessary and will be appropriate to the circumstance. TOPC leadership will maintain confidentiality with regards to any reporter of any incident. TOPC enforcement policies may be further clarified and defined.

Enforcement Responsibilities

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying our standards for… and expectations of… appropriate and acceptable behavior, and will take fair corrective action in response to any inappropriate behavior. Fair corrective action includes communicating reasons for moderative choices when appropriate.

Community leaders are responsible for removing, editing, or rejecting comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct. Unacceptable behavior (abusive, dispraging, harmful, harrassive, illegal, threatening, or sustained inappropriate behavior) can result in temporary or permanent ban from the TOPC website site and/or Discord server.

Enforcement Guidelines

Community leaders will follow these Enforcement Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:

1. Inappropriate Incident (one-time violation)

Defined: A one-time inappropriate language use or other behavior, with “inappropriate” meaning ‘unprofessional or unwelcome in the community’.

Consequence: A private, written admonishment/correction, from community leadership, providing clarity around the nature of the inappropriateness.

2. Inappropriate Behavior (sustained or repetitive, but not serious)

Defined: Sustained or repetitive inappropriate language use or other behavior, but not serious enough to warrant banning.

Consequence: A warning with consequences for future behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a specified period of time. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels like social media. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.

3. Unacceptable Incident (one-time violation)

Defined: A one-time, albeit serious, violation of community standards, including inappropriate behavior (sustained or repetitive, and serious).

Consequence: Will result in a temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period of time. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.

4. Unacceptable Behavior (sustained or repetitive)

Defined: Demonstrating a pattern of any unacceptable action(s), including: abusive, disparaging, harmful, harrassive, illegal, or threatening behavior.

Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.
